July 27, 2013 --- The early morning was stormy with frequent lightning to the NW-N-NE during the 12 AM to 3 AM CDT hours. A thunderstorm occurred during the 3 AM CDT hour with very heavy rainfall at 3:04 AM CDT and frequent cloud to ground lightning. The rainfall from these early morning thunderstorms amounted to 2.43 inches as the official rainfall amount for the City of Natchitoches, La. for the past 24-hour period ending at 8:00 AM CDT today. Light rain occurred today at 8:33 AM CDT and some drizzle occurred this morning also. A cold front passage occurred today. Skies were cloudy most of the day but became mostly cloudy to cloudy during the 5-6 PM CDT hours. The official NWS dewpoint temperature value at 8:00 AM CDT this morning was 64°F, instead of the normal July morning of 70 degrees or higher. A clear morning sky prevailed today along with a near calm wind expecially during the 5 AM to 9 AM CDT hours. The sky remained clear or mostly clear until about 2:54 PM CDT, when high cloudiness increased from the NE. Considerable high clouds were observed at 4:00 PM CDT from Natchitoches, when the sky was partly sunny, temperature at 87.3 degrees, a dewpoint of 57 degrees and relative humidity in the 27-33% during the 4:00 PM CDT hour. At 4:00 PM CDT today the wind was from the N (010 degrees) at 7 MPH (6 KT). The sky was cloudy during the evening hours and cloudy at 6 pm , 7pm and 8 pm hours. At 8 PM CDT, the temperature was 82.7 degrees and a calm wind. No rainfall was recorded today.
